Ok well i got into some water that was a little deeper than i thought and sucked some in through the carbs. Every thing still seams ok in the motor still runs good i just got a shit load of sludge in the case and i don't know how to get it out. It is the consistence of thick paint from when the water and oil mixed together. So far this is what i have done 1st i changed the oil and used some engine cleaner from auto zone that you mix with the oil started and let run for 5 min then drained 2nd i filled the case with diesel and let it sit for a hour then drained 3rd another oil change started for 5 min then drained it and still looks like crap. 4th took strainer out and used compressed air to blow out what i could get to took valve covers off and blew them out also blew out the oil pump and oil cooler the air hose cleaned up a lot but what else can i do to get rid of it completely. any thing would help thanks. |

Don't know if this will work on vw's but my stepdad sank his 460 flat bottom V-drive boat in Lake Erie. He filled it with transmission fluid, took the plugs out and cranked it over several times to clean it out. |

If you could start with a new oil pressure sender and a "T" put the new sender in and a mechanical oil pressure gauge, the kind with the hose line to it. That will take out the electrical part of the problem. I break in engines using both. I don't always trust the electric senders. Or if you can't get a gauge then at least put in a new sender and "T" and hook the hose line to it as if there were a gauge, make the line long enough to reach to the oil filler and aim the line into it and start the engine. If you have oil pressure to oil will come out of the line. I have used this method to check turbo oil flow and it is a tell all. Oil or no oil. Hope it helps Thanks Dave T |

If you really want to keep that engine, I would disasemble and check it out. I'd bet more than just water got into it. |

Your pressure relief valve(s) may be sticking. It can't hurt to dissasemble the engine. I put a 1600 including the carb under water. I was real lucky to be able to drain the carb and oil and keep driving it. I have seen other engines with bent rods. |

well i have done 8 oil changes so far and it is almost back to normal oil color. as for the pressure problem it ended up being a bad oil pressure sender unit replaced that and every thing seems to be good runs great again . thanks for the help every one. |
