its time for a Rebuild i have a stock 1600 now im looking to go for a 1915. Im going to be drive it on the street so i think 1915 will work good for me. but looking online AA Performance Products kits are half the price as others are they as good? |

Im not saying anything bad about them because i have never ran them but i too have thought about buying some of their products before i read up about them on Samba.It wasn't good,a couple guys were running there pistons and the bottom of them blew apart where the wrist pin goes through.They are complete different design than Mahlep&C"s.You cannot use teflon buttons in them,only circlips.That right there told me not to buy them,but dont let me persuade you. |

They blew them up with 12 to 1 plus compression, 8000 plus rpms and lots of nitrous. For most normal applications they will work fine. The cylinder walls are not as well finished as Mahle. Shawn Geers has unfinished 94 mm barrels that he hones correctly. At that point Mahles are cheaper. You build it with a VZ 14 or VZ 15 cam and they will last. |

How do you keep the buttons in?The 94mm pistons i seen just recently could not use them.Does your 92's look like a Mahle piston,the same size diameter from top to bottom? |

I have heard nothing good about the AA stuff. I'd stick with Cima/Mahle p&c's. Is it worth gambling on something you have doubts about to save $100 on an engine build?? Thats exactly how AC vw gets a rep as being unreliable. Trying to save a buck on parts when building one causes poor results and premature failure. Check Roy's signiature....words to live by IMO.

Those are not slipper skirt design as are the 94's. Definitely are for a lower performance application IMHO. |

Iv been running them for over a year with 9.8-1 comp and 5-8# of boost. I used them because they were lighter then the mahles but they may bust tomorrow |

I have been running the AA's in my race motor at 11.5:1 with no issues. They are lighter |
