ok I have a 1835cc motor and I am getting new heads from CB with matching manifolds...the question is should i get new parts to refresh the engine or should i do that and add a new crank as well? I have dual 40 dells and I do not know what cam is on the inside but the builder likes to use the eagle 110 cam in alot of his engines...and he suggested moving up to the 74 crank and said I would not have to touch the case for this to work... is it worth it? or should i just get a build kits for a 1835 and rebuild the engine? your two cents are needed! |

What is the condition of the current engine? If the current engine (Cam, Crank, Etc.) are fine.. Just replace the heads and keep on going. If the bottom end needs to be rebuilt, it will cost not cost much more to move up to a 2180 rather than a 1967.. I am not an engine builder .. this is just my 2 cents... |

I dont like 92 pistons because they are 90.5 machined to a 92 the wall thickness is to thin and they over heat easier i would rather go to 94 they are like 90.5s thicker.just my .02 cents |

I ran the engine for a lil while and it was never tuned right and it had plenty of pep at mid to high rpm... the only reason why im changeing the heads is taht there was a crak near the exaust port on one and all the studs were in bad shape so i tried to take them out and all but two came out...then that crack turned into losing a chunk and the other one snapped off in the head... so im looking at heads from cb and investing about 6-800 in a "slightly" better then stock head...but nothign to crazy...since this will be a daily driver...I do want to build a 2110 in the future or a 2332 but right now i am trying to just get the car running...everywhere i turn somethign is not working out right in the last 2 months with thei rig...just my luck i guess it is time for me to put it on the back burner and relax and enjoy the summer and go fishing... i see that if i want to rebuild the motor mid-america offers the kits from scat...i dont know much abotu those but they seem like it could work but i dont think anythign internally is wrong jsut the heads...it was never smoking but the carbs were not synced and the gasgets were leaking air so it was not idleing right either... so i guess i just need to get the heads and then see how it runs when i am tunning the carbs... thanks guys! |

A 1967 would be fine. For more durability the way to go would be to install a 78 mm crank with 90.5 P&Ls for a 1955 cc engine. Use the CB or Scat I beam rods and you will not need to clearance the case. While CB makes a decent head getting a set of Steve Tims (Performance-workshop.com) Stage One heads with its smaller port volume will make more torque due to its faster air speed. At $579 a pair it includes port matching your intakes and setting valve spring pressure for your cam. Add some 1.25 rockers to the W 110 cam. |
