so what is the pros and cons about new cases? are mexican cases as good as an old used german? what about the brazilian cases? or an aluminum non bubble top case? so many to choose from which is good better or best ? or is a linebored german case just as good ?? i have a std german case that appears to need a line bore would it be just as good as a new non german case |

A vw is going to leak no matter what,but when i ran a aluminum case it seemed to leak even more.I prefer the mag. cases and have never had a new one.Every motor ive built has been a good used case,but if i had the extra money id buy a new mag. case,let history speak for itself,just my opinion though. |

If your talikng about the Beeline,i sold it,but i got one even better and requires less work,plus i can haul a passenger.Basically just got to build the motor.Id probably buy a aluminum case if was to build a motor with a 88-90 stroke crank,but it would definatly be a CB bubble top case.Ive seen quite a few 2500's built with a mag. case though.If youe looking to buy one check Roy out on here,he has a brand new mag. case already clearenced up to a 90mm crank for $500,good deal. |

I run a 2276 stuffed into a regular aluminum case that i bought off of Roy... 110 cam + 1.25 rockers = best combo out there... Works from 1641 to as big as you want... |

I built my 2276 this winter and i used a new empi bubble top case. It sure was nice not to have to clearance the block myself. I like the case so far, I have a small pushrod tube and rear main seal leak, but volkswagens don't leak oil they just mark their spot right?

Most of time you get what you pay for, but a motor in this case wont make any more power than one built in a properly prepped stock case. Bradley's opinion is same as mine as far as the cam n lifter choice. Too many variables to say there is one perfect choice. Gotta consider heads, weight, gearing, tire size, do you want more torque or more pull upstairs, driving style, what you gonna do with it, etc etc. |

I use the CB race case with 10mm studs. Most are not touched till about 5 or 6 years some go 9+ years. (I think Gregs has been together for 12+ years) 110 and 1.5 rockers works great so do 110 and 1.3 each buggy is different. It has a lot of factors in what you use from weight of buggy to heads etc. Greg's is in a stock case, Charlies stock case. Many many more are in stock cases. They guy that built mine (Lewis) has been building motors for a long time and he just does not build it, every one is balanced and blue printed. Lewis is like the Godfather of vw motors. |
