Post subject:  tearing down a motor? UPDATED!

gonna try to get my motor pulled and tore down this weekend dont have any compression and checked the oil and there was gas in it but is there anything i need to know or buy guys?

i think your best bet would be take it to some one that knows what they are doing....lot less headaches in the end...

you said it, thing im worried about is not havin enough $ to fix it then, thats why ive got all them parts on here i called some vw place but the guy would not price me a motor he said to call back :roll: soo ill see what happens i guess

do one thing before you start. pull the rockers off and see if it has any compression. that will be a good place to start, let use know

motor has no compression thats why im gonna tare it down

What Instigator's saying is try taking off the rockers THEN check compression

you never know :idea:

and if that don't work load it in the truck and come down for the weekend and I will build it for you :wink:

ok just left it in the buggy and started tearin it down this past weekend, got about 1/2 of it done noticed that oil has been leakin out of the top of one of the cylinders, will finish tearing it down this coming weekend,
will also have that engine block for sale!


after i pulled the rockers on both sides only 1 valve moved and that was the 3rd one on the right side i do believe!

After you pull the rockers no valve should move.
You have one stuck in?

got it down to bare just about it and its cracked where the cam is
