my engine started to puke oil after running it last sunday its comming from the sand seal a little ,a little from the dipstick hole and alot from the crank equilizer box i went to wellsville on labor day and last sunday was the first time its been out since , i just was going up to my buddys farm to get it out . when i was runnin around i smelled the fresh oil on exhaust it is not burnin it thru the exhaust its like it is building crank pressure and pushin out where it can . things i cked before i went up there i cked oil it was low so i filled it to the second line on the dipstick started it and ck again so it was not over full . i cked compresion it equel at 61 to 62 psi on all cyl. oil pressure is around 40 to 60 max on the gas and it does go down to around 5 to 10 on idle any help would be great because im clueless at this point.... thanks guys for any help also the timing is 34 degrees advances on reves correct |

maybe a broke ring or something building pressure in the block if it has blow back.that commpression seems a little low to me,might just be time to rebuild but you think it would be smoking if the rings were bad.chad |

if you put new rings in it you should go ahead and put rod bearings in it.you dont have to split the case and its not going to cost you that much more.i have learned from experience that you build up compression with those new rings on old rod bearings chances are you are going to spin one.there is always the chance you wont but for 30 bucks id put them in while you got the jugs off and not take a chance on having to turn a crank later.it is to be safe than sorry.and if you cant afford thirty more bucks and 1hr or 2 of time then just buy oil and run it til it blows.chad |

My old motor did that as well, it ended up having new jugs and pistons on it to fix the problem. |

$30 for a re-ring or $100-130 for new piston/cylinder kit........ I'd jug it just because there is a good chance the cylinders aren't round anymore. Those $30 rings may not solve anything. As gasman said, rod bearing it too while it's down that far. Not hard to do and it's only another $10-15. |

If you decide to do the rod bearings dont forget to mic up the crank journals in case its been ground. |

Check the back of the bearing half for the size. Surely it's had the right bearings in it all along....... STD is standard. .25 is .010" under. .5 or .50 is .020" under and so on. |
