Anyone ever tried running a VW motor on alcohol? I talked to Bert about it the other day and am thinking about trying it. What are the pros and cons?

Way more cons than there is pros.

If you were just drag racing, it might be worth a try. For the woods, forget it.
Way to much maintenance involved and the oil gets contaminated quickly.
Better off going to the airport and getting some AV Gas instead.

I wasn't going to run it all the time. Just special occasions.

As Roy said it is very bad on something you want to ride all the time. Some one came to D&K last year that was trying out Alcohol on their buggy, but they had problems all day. And by the end of the day they had blew their motor up. I do not know if it was from the Alcohol or not. But it is very corrosive on motor parts (I think that is what the guy said?).

The problem with using Acahol part time is the tuning. Every time you use it you will have to go to much larger jets and redial the motor in. By the time you get it running right the days over with. More of a pain in the ass then its worth.

Go get some 110 or 114 race fuel. That's the best you can do and keep your motor alive. (just for one weekend)
