For that size motor your air corrections are a little on the small side. Also the oil on the threads is an Indication that your burning oil and not nessasarly running too rich. Its appears you may have a little of both conditions. |

I am running 44's with an upgrade kit from CB Performance with F-11 tubes, 65 idles, 145 mains, 200 air, and some backing off on the accelerator pump. I have tried over $400 worth of jets and adjustments and this is the best I can get, I even bought a set of F-7 tubes and it made the motor run like it got a set of IDF 40's (like it is WAY too small) This is a 2276cc with 44x37.5 S/E heads, FK-7 cam, 1.4:1 rockers, all MSD goodies, Champion 810 plugs gapped at .055 inch. You can wipe your finger inside the exhaust pipe and it is not black at all, not even a smudge. |

Somtimes it is not as complicated as it may seem. Sounds to me like your float needs adjusted. Your Bowl may be filling up to high. When it comes to off-road the float level is very important. If your bowl is filling up to far you will run very rich no matter what you do to the jets. Are both sides of your engine showing the same signs or is one side worse? |

The jets I posted were wrong. They were off my old single 44idf. I just checked the dual 44 idf and they have 55 idles 145 mains F11 emulsion tubes 200 air I put new NGK’s in before my last trip and had to pull them when I rolled it. The plugs looked like new after 4-5+ hrs of hard riding. Also the floats have been set to 15mm suggested by Weber for hard off-road. |

Ok, thats more like what you should have in those carbs. When you say the plugs look like new, are the porcelins still white? |

It was just after the roll so that might have washed them off. It would hardly crank over and was dumping gas out of the exhaust. I’m riding this weekend at Walhonding Hills Campground so I will pull them after that trip and post some pictures. |

Does it always run bad, or just sometimes, like when climbing, or going over rough stuff? Do you still have the choke bodies on them? |

Ok, Keep an eye on them because setting the float to 15mm has leaned out the carbs. White plugs = lean condition and is not good. Rejetting may be required. hillaholic wrote: Odyknuck wrote: Ok, thats more like what you should have in those carbs. When you say the plugs look like new, are the porcelins still white? If your running race fuel, it is a lot harder to read the plugs. The inside of my exhaust is white when I finish a race, but its not running lean. I just played with jets, and when we dynoed it, we could monitor the egt and they were all actually kinda low. i wanna say around 1100 degrees or so. But if you look at the plugs, you would say its lean. |
