Post subject:  carb problems

I have a stock 1600 dual port motor with a solex 32 pict i belive is the numbers on it.I just bought it and put it on brand new it idles fine and at full throtle it does pretty good but between there it loads up and dont wana run right and you have to hold it to it to get it to clear up any help would be greatful thanks

i havnt never got a stock carb to work like a new one,but it sounds like u may have an air leak,gasket on intake,maybe jus something to look for

To easiest way to check for a intake leak is to spray some carb cleaner between the carb base, the intake manifold boots and the intake manifolds to heads while the motor is at an idle. One at a time that is. If there is a leak the motor will speed up or slow down. Many times if you have a intake the motor will seem to fluxuate at an idle. There is a few adjustments on that carb also that could be a problem. The intake boots are very very very famous for cracking and leaking.
