i was removing the manual fuel pump and putting on a block off plate, while removing the plastic the rod goes in it broke off i was wandering if anybody had any ideas about how to get it out. it broke off down inside the metal piece inside the engine. can not get ahold of it with neddle nose plyers. was thinking about trying to run a tap down into it and try to pull it out that way or maybe an easyout any suggestions would be gladly taken thanks in advance

Leave it alone. If it is that tight that it broke off, it's not going to go anywhere now.

A slidehammer style dent puller with a screw in the end of it works well if the screw will reach whats left of the plastic. Drill a 1/8" hole in the edge of it, screw in the dent puller and yank, if you really want it out. But it wont hurt nothing sittin in there, like Roy said.

I agree with Roy. Thats what I've always done.

I'm leaning towards leaving it in. You could weld a tap to a piece of rod and thread it all the way down so the slide hammer can push it up from the bottom. Downside is any pieces that go to the bottom better be small enough to get under the sump pick up. Unbolting the sump in an assembled engine is very slow going.

I learned to try not to twist them when pulling them out. I broke one trying to twist it out and I just left the broken piece in there and put the cover on.

This is what one looks like when its new and not broke.
