You can build a 2056 out of a 2.0l bus motor by replacing the pistons and cylinders with 96mm bore. They are bolt on and very similar to going from a stock 1600 (they are actually 1585cc) to a 1641. If you are wanting to use a type 4 for a buggy and do it cheap, I would just keep the stock stroke and bore (71 stroke x 94 bore = 1971cc) because there are other upgrades that would provide more bang for the buck than just a displacement increase combined with stock parts. You could fabricate an exhaust and your ready to bolt onto a buggy.
If you want to spend some money on it:
1. Build a turbo exhaust and go turbo propane. This would probably be your best bang for the buck.
2. Upright conversion (you can fabricate for fairly cheap if you have the skills or buy)
3. Change the cam and lifters
4. Port the heads (I think the exhaust is the problem area)
5. Dual webers or dells.
6. Offroad exhaust if you go upright conversion.

well im running 1915 now and in my eyes builing a 2000cc and over engine with a stock 2000cc is way more reliable then building a 2000cc or over starting with a 1600cc... i no alot of ppl run propane on there yotas and samurai's and thought about it... wheres a good place for the kit and who has run them... and id like to c sum pics of the up right conversion if possible...thanks for all the input...im ready for a build
have an ecotec but cant get myself to put it in yet...
