When it comes to heads, this is what makes it all happen. One very slight change will make huge differences. I will not recommend heads but you have tons of folks that will.
What "don't" you like about what you have now?

I have heard different opinions on what kind of heads to run on a woodsbuggy motor.I am looking to buy a good set of heads,so i would like to hear what heads and valve size you guys think are the best to run.I have a 2276 loaded with some of the best parts out there,i run a 110 cam with 1.4 ratio rockers and 6-rib.I like to climb hills that you have to let out on and get right back into it and drive it ,high walls are o.k.,i just dont have the right gearing for most of the taller high walls.I am running 044's now with 42x37valves.Any suggestions ??? |

If you're looking for some good, low-end torque, about a set of street eliminator heads, I have a set on mine right now with 44x37.5 S/S valves, Some people say that the rule of thumb is to run the intake valve the same size as your carbs, for example, Weber 44 IDF's should be 44mm valve and so on, but does not mean you HAVE too, just a thought, I seen a 2387 runs super-strong with Comp-Eliminator heads and I heard that he is running only 42mm intake valves, and he is running 44IDF's. I would try a set of Comp. heads in the near future, just not right now. |

Over the years we have built a lot of VW motors ,Tryed all kinds of heads .Me I like STREET ELIMINATORS 42x37.5 for over all rideing like we do .I have ran these on 1915 to 2388 .CB flowed ported you can't beat them |

Those are the 2 im thinking of using,i found a place that sales them for $100 difference,but was told that the comp eliminators might take away some of my bottom end,but have super top end.I guess it all boils down to what end do i want the most performance and for the difference in money,i 'll probably just go with the best in case i build a bigger motor.Thanks for the info BadVw. |

If i were you I would have your current heads looked over and ported.Change the cam over to an Engle FK-65 because it is made for a ratio rocker and is VERY similar to a 110.A 42mm intake valve will feed your engine all it needs especially with a small cam in it.A huge head will only make it feel soggy down low.I have personally seen people make over 200hp with a 40x35.5 valve head. |

Heads is where the power is ,like a Harley .You right Roy there is so much you can do with a set of heads it's unbeliveable |

Excellent advise guys,i think i will send my heads on over to Dave at Shadetree and see what happens when he gets done with them.I dont dislike my heads,my motor just dont seem like it is coming alive like it should,it feels like iam pulling something behind me.has anyone had an old car with a clogged converter and when you cut it off it felt like it had alot more power,thats why i think i should definatly do something in the head department. |

Port those heads, and pump it up to around 10.5:1 or so compression, and you will love it! |

make sure the shop you take it to has a flo bench for vw heads. |

My compression is already at 11.3 or 11.5.I think i found me a set of street eliminators ported with 44x37.5 valves.What do you guys think of those? |

The guy that has the heads,has another set or two.One set has 40x37 valves for a fair price if anyone is interested,and thanks Badvw. |
