Post subject:  Blown oil galley plug

A freinds motor blew 1 of the larger oil galley plugs out the back of the case,has anyone seen this and what size drill bit and tap would i need to fix it.

Here is some info on you request, but I don't know what size you will need depending on how large the hole is.

NPT National Pipe Thread
Tap size. Threads per inch. Drill size.
1/8 - 27 - 11/32
1/4 - 18 - 7/16
3/8 - 18 - 19/32
1/2 - 14 - 23/32
3/4 - 14 - 15/16
1 - 11-1/2 - 1-5/32

Best if you use a tapered reamer along with that tap drill.
3/8" NPT is the most common plug for the bigger galley.
