I am new to the weber carbs, and recently put a 44 (single) on my 1835. It runs great reved up but has a flat spot on the start. Is there an easy place start for adjusting it.

idle jets are to small if it has a flat spot,u will have to get someone to drill them 5 mm each time till it gets better,if they are 50 idles try 55 if it still has flat spot go to 60

You can buy idle jets in anything from .40 up to at least .70 in .05 increments.
Those numbers are in mm too.
I'd be hesitant to drill jets unless you have the plug gauge to verify sizes.
Did you adjust the idle mixture screws?
That's spring loaded needle assembly near the bottom of the carb.
