What are my options as far as alternators go? Do I have to use a VW one or are there others that are better/cheaper? |

There are several options out there now. There are some companies jumping up the amperage for a higher output. Shop around some. Personally, I like the one wire Bosch alternator. Good quality and you can get it brand new for about 100 bucks. You get what you pay for..... |

My cost is over $130 for the genuine Bosch AL82N these days..... 
There are some Asian knock offs now for that |

I bought two of them a couple years ago for $105 each. Or was it 3 years ago? Man i'm gettin old I guess.

I used to sell them just over a year ago for $108. Times (and prices) are a changin' Roy...........
And not for the best either.........
