My guess is the intake is freezing up.
Pretty common on a center mount carb/intake if you don't have any heat.
Run crappy when it's cold-get better when it warms up?

Could be borderline rich/lean when it is running "right" and when the weather changes it is showing up as a symptom. :?:

I've never messed with solex carbs any but it sounds like the choke pull off may be sticking. My old Chevy does the same thing in cool weather for a few minutes, you have to keep it running by holding the throttle open a little until the choke pull off finally kicks in, then it runs perfect. Never been a problem for me cause I hardly ever drive it and never remember it when I'm not driving it so it hasn't been fixed.

when I had a solex on my bug I had problems with the choke. It would do the same, run good one day run like crap another. try tying the choke open once it's running and see what happens. I went too a progressive 2bl.

I had almost the same problem on my solex it was the linkage for the accelarator pump. It has a small ball and clip that holds it in place if the ball is worn the linkage can shift and starve you of fuel to the point of not running but for a second.
