I bought the buggy in 2010 and ran it a while only having to do several minor repairs. Then trying to replace a bent push rod tube I ended up severely cracking one of the heads. When I put the new one on I found that the engine would not turn over all the way. It would only rotate 280 degrees. I decided to split the case and while I'm at it replace anything that looks worn. I now think that one of the head studs was screwed past the threads and was hitting a rod. Anyway, the real question here is: How far should I go with the rebuild? I'm probably going to sell the buggy before long (frame too small for me, and has bug transaxle) so I don't want to dump too much money into it unless it will add value to the buggy at resale. Though, I hate that it has just one new head, lol. |

Here are my thoughts.... Build it back until it is running reliably and that is it. I would not bother changing anything else out if you do not need to. |

I went to the local VW place today. They said that for under $200 they would line bore and get me all new bearings. I broke down and went ahead and told them to do it. |
