I have a duel relief case VW 1600. The relief valves were stuck, got them out. Went and bought a new set. The new set, one plunger has a "cut" in it, it is stepped. does anyone know if the cut plunger goes with the long or short spring? any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Yeah I think that plunger are for a single port engine.
Both plungers should look the same.

these plungers came in a set. The lady at LA Products said they were an upgraded set but she couldn't tell me which plunger went with what spring. The guy who would have known wasn't there. I google imaged the set and the pics showed stepped plunger with long spring which goes to the rear of engine. I installed them last night, ill see what happens.

That kit is probably made to increase oil pressure with the funky plunger and heavier springs.
I use an OEM case hardware kit that has the original style plungers and hardware.
I'll bet that stepped plunger is longer than the original.
