My problem is my buggy runs great and loads of low end but as soon as I start bouncing around in the woods the webers start to cut out is there any mods I could do to them to prevent this I have checked my float height and it seems good |

Do you have black smoke? Venturis too small/big? I'm not a pro at carbs, but just know the basics. Below 60 psi compression the fuel is hard to lite off, besides, some of it escapes thru the rings or valves anyway. I do a vacuum check and a compression and oily plug check and know I have good plug wires b4 I diagnose anything. Some people spend every sat. playing woobow with their carbs and adjusting as necessary but actually they have a dying motor. Oily plugs and low comp. make it hard to lite fuel. If so, replace rings with TOTAL SEAL rings and keep your jug kit. If timing is your problem , skeet some oil down below into your advance springs and centrifugal weights. Rusty crusty mechanisms play games with your acceleration. Also. Better yet , take it apart and oil it. It will make a difference. |

lower your floats. You would be suprised how much it helps. you need very little fuel in them for general trail riding. You can also make some type of "vent" extender for the hole inbetween your jet holders. I used something like an aluminum arrow cut just shorter than the jet holders. just jb weld it into that hole. |

it keep fuel from splashing out of the bowl and into places where it shouldnt be. between that, lower floats and proper jetting, your motor will run as good as a fuel injected motor. I have spent countless hours screwing with my carbs on the race buggy trying to get it to NEVER screw up, and that vent helped alot! |

This is Interesting!! This is the first time I’ve seen this or even heard of it! Do you think that this is necessary for those of us trail riding? Or you needed the extra fuel (higher float setting) for racing

Weber carbs are awesome and when tuned properly, will make a VW motor scream. They do have their problems when you take them off road. Adding a float bowl vent extension has been done with all kinds of carburetors over the years to prevent fuel from splashing out of the float bowl and flooding the motor, causing it to run poorly in the rough stuff. Adding these vent extensions is not difficult. Use your imagination. Years ago, CB performance actually sold a "MX" version of the Weber that had bowl vent extension that was already installed new. Don't know if they still do. As racebugg said, lower your floats some as well. All this will help a lot. |

I don think i raised my float level when I started racing, well I know I didnt lower it any more when I retired that motor to my woods buggy. The vent would help anyone off road for sure! |
