I have a 2387 with 40 dells on it. It ran great when I first took it out last year, New motor old carbs. I've been on about 5 rides an it now sounds like I'm running on 3 cylinders when reving, idles fine.. I've checked the wiring the distributor changed plugs. When it give it half throttle I can take both driver side plugs off an it makes no change so which means that carb is dead right? I've also adjusted the air mixture screws all the way in an out an it doesn't change anything? If I was to fix this on my own what would I trouble shoot first? I can look down in the bowls an it's pumping fuel.. I jus have no experience in these types of carbs.

Clean your idle jets & if that don't work it could be something in the idle circuit , so blow them out , if that doesn't help , you will have at least eliminated that from the possibility list !

First thing to check are the jets if you get trash in them they will act like that. Take the filter off and the jets are the brass fittings in the top the two tall ones are the main jets the two down in the hole are idle jets you can take them out and clean them without taking the carb apart good luck

Just took the two air mixture screws out an there no spring or metal washer jus the rubber washer I'm sure that could b a big problem.

Your linkage may be off if one carb is opening sooner than the other one it will stumble in low to mid throttle. Its best to start with a syc guage if you know somebody that has one.

If a dellorto is the same way as a weber your jets are not from the top they would be from the sides of the carbs. And not under the mixture screws with the springs under them. They will be located on the same side as adjustment screws but on the upper side of carb. There will be 2 on each carb.

Well i just looked at a pic of a dellorto. On clist and it looked like there were no springs on the mixture screws? It appeared to have 3 screws per barrel and i would guess the upper ones are the idle jets ,lowers are mixture, and i have no clue as to the middle ones. Hope this helps you

idle jets are in the top on dellortos & you are supposed to have spring then washer then rubber seal !
I just rebuilt my 45 dells 2 days ago , here is a pic !

The four holes in the top are idle & main gas

Get them back to specs before troubleshooting , then go from there , I will help you best I can , I've rebuilt& tuned dozens of sets , we will figure it out , they have to be getting to much air for sure on that side !
Cb performance sell everything you need if you can't find anything close !

the spring and washer should still be in the hole when you take the air mixture screw out if you tighten them to tight they will come off in there take a piece of wire and dig them out

Ok so I got the carb together an I'm still having the same issue. Seems like the drivers side 2 cylinders are almost dead. I've got a msd 6al box an an cb performance distributer is it possible that any of that could be breaking down on that side?

Try this. Start your rail and take starting fluid and spray around the base of your carbs on top of your heads and see if it don't rev up maybe an intake gasket is blown. Just an idea no promises

Was working on my rail today because it was only running on 2 cyl. Comes to find out my electronic patronics that I just bought are junk I put point in it and unhooked my msd box fired right up and runs great now. I'm going back to electronic patronics but just didn't have an extra set laying around to put back in my distributor give that a try.
