NGK plugs work fine in big air cooled motors.

Im hoping its plugs. I checked my carbs but its not firing as hot on 1 and 2 for some reason. And the occasionall pop at idle

Check for vacuume leaks and exhaust leaks for popping. I always ran Bosch W8 long reach plugs, Bosch wires and a Bosch blue coil with pentropics electronic ignition never an issue and a orange German cap and rotor. Just can't beat the factory setup for reliability

Check your carburetors make sure they are in sync I gotta feeling you got one that is out. The side that is running a little cooler open your idle screw a little bit . Then recheck with a heat gun see what happens popping will probably go away also

Im going to keith Mitchells here in a few days and get a new exhaust ..this one is all rust and put all new gaskets as these are leaking.. so that may be the problem or atleast one of them!! Gonna buy a sync tool also for the carbs. I can put my hand over the venturies on the drivers side and it doesn't seem to change the way it idles.. now 3 and 4 it will almost kill it.
Considering it hasnt been really ran much in a few years im looking to to clean a few cobwebs out..lol

Check your intake gaskets sounds like a sign of an intake leak if the rpms pick up
