now i can not seem to get the motor to idle long enough to set my best lean idle.

Point rotor at #1 wire. Point 7.5 btdc at case seam. loosen dist. connect 1 wire type test lite to neg side of coil and stick test lite into a spring on the carb for a ground. Turn key on. Rotate dist cw til lite goes out then counter cw til lite turns on. tighten dist. Remove wrench from pulley. If you have a 2 wire test lite then connect them to the coil. Red + black neg . Stick the test lite in the spring. Rotate dist the same way but instead the lite will go from green to bright green with a 2 wire test lite.

Ok i got it running last night its back to being a ripper again.

Now for the next question where the hell do you mount the return spring on these carbs on my old set there was a piece that hung down that had a hole in it to mount the spring but these are cast and do not have a place to put it. both sides of the carbs look the same.

This is what my old set looked like this set did not come with this.
