Started installing an oil filter and oil cooler. My motor is setup for full flow but I've only been running it through a hose and back into the motor. Due to recent engine failure I'm doing everything I can to prevent this before I even rebuild the motor. The kit I got comes with an adapter for the stock cooler ports. I'm defianately running the filter on the full flow system. Is it better to run the cooler in the full flow or the cooler ports? Where should I plumb the switch for the fan? sump, cooler ports, or inline with the full flow?

I always ran my oil cooler off the full flow cover on the oil pump then back into the main oil gallery. I also ran an offset oil cooler so if by chance I had a big branch go through my oil cooler I could bypass it all together. don't laugh it happened one night.  I ran my thermostatic switch on the outgoing side of the oil cooler.

Thanks Barron, I got my cooler buryed pretty good so chances are nill. Always chance of a stray stick though so ill be sure to carry tools to bypass the cooler period to limp back to camp. I got a mesa type cooler is that ok or did I pay more for less?

Good choice, I think they are more robust and more efficient at transferring heat
