I have a sensitive motor that runs hot if the oct is too low or timing is off. Rats build nest above cylinders also.

DO NOT run a power pulley, this will make your problem worse.

a brown plug usually indicates a good mixture. unless you are OVER heating I would say that's not your problem. double check your timings not too advanced and slap a new starter on it.

The heads and the oil lines get so hot they will burn you and the oil breather unit blowes out oil and it was just cleaned..

find you a long skinny thermometer you can drop down in the dipstick tube. 180* can burn you.

Also may want to look into a high torque or a gear reduction starter, with a high compression motor a stock starter may not crank fast enough when engine is warmed up

What are you setting timing at? I had to set mine pretty high to get rid of the same problem. According to my pulley and timing light im at about 38 total advance. This seems high to me but thats where it likes it.

I wouldn't exceed 36 degrees of total timing or you risk damage
