 Post subject: Checking engine case

What are some things i can do at home to check a case to see if its any good? It looks good but i want to make sure. I have all kinds of measuring instruments like calipers and stuff. And how do i identify what case i have? Thanks

here's an old one. Bolt it together and shine a bright lite thru it. And if you see lite where the bearings sandwich then it ain't the greatest. It will have low oil press,. Throw it in a fire and listen to Passat. He has pissed away enough money to build a vacation home but they tell him he is f'd up.
