My oil light came on yesterday during a ride. I shut it down rite away. Checked oil it was good. Fired it up and headed for camp. Didnt make it cause the coil went bad. Today I changed the oil sending switch and pulled the relief spring and plunger out. All that was ok. Pulled the oil sender switch out and cranked engine over. No oil comes out of the hole. Is my oil pump bad?

Pull the oil pump cover make sure it's still spinning. Pull the sump screen make sure it's not clogged and your pickup hasn't come loose.

Ive seen the oil pump drive strip out and cause the pump to not spin. I would check that first. Just take the oil pump cover off and pull out the top gear and make sure the flat end off the drive gear isnt striped. 8)

Ok I will check all those things. I also can hear air coming out when its cranking. Like a spark plug is out. Are these blocks know to crack anywhere? It doesnt leak any oil anywhere so if its cracked its up high somewhere.

Ok. I pulled the oil pump cover and the oil pump gear was broke. Changed the pump with a used on I had and cant get any oil pressure. I tried jacking the front up all that stuff. Im going to pull the pump out of my spare engine and see if it works. I know that on is good. Also my pick up tube moves side to side a little. Is that normal? It was like that when I put the deep sump on and I ran it for a year before that.
