Going to dyno the engine I just pulled off my wife's buggy in a week or so. It's been ran for 2 years just want to freshin it up. Specs are 69stroke crank stock lightined rods aluminum flywheel bugpack 4063 cam stock cam gears, push rods, and rockers. It has mofoco 041 heads lightly ported with duel springs compression is 13:1 with AA pistons stock end castings single 40 IDF weber carb. So lets here what y'all think

A top fuel dragster is roughly seven thousand hp... so i would say a fresh 1915 has to be good for some wear around two thousand hp...

I'd say 93 hp and 100 lb ft of torque. High compression may help but not much rotating mass with lightened everything. I'd say torque won't be as high as expected.

The light internals and flywheel shouldn't change the numbers on a (Brake) style dyno. But on a chassis dyno you will see a increase in horsepower and torque from the lighter flywheel. Simply because your wasting less hp accelerating the light flywheel and using more to turn the rollers or move the car.

Gaining 1/5th cc and claiming 1/2 more hp (60+30) or nearly double ? Even with all the tricks,factory engineers German or Jap that season a motor and put the right size ports , valves, cam, balancing etc and us rednecks just call California and listen to all their verbage and throw unbalanced chineese stuff in a case and expect results that they can't match.I'd guess at 80-85. and that is over a 1/3 more hp from the original 60.)

I have to agree with Passat, take a modern efi engine with 265 hp 243 lbft of torque, from twin over head cams, Dynoed 245 hp at the rear wheels. A 1600 makes 60 horse and you bump it up with some slightly larger cylinders and a longer duration mild lift cam probably good 25 to 30 horse power gain at the crank.

Put a turbo or supercharger or dry sump it and you will more impressive gains.

Travis all the tricks, turns, flips, and flops you do with motors. Who knows what you Elsa you did to it but if I was to guess hp I would say 123 before the rebuild and when you get done with it I will guess 131 be sure to let us know. Good luck can't wait to get together and do some riding this summer again.

This is for an engine dyno, or gross HP? Well, subtract 30% off what the engine dyno says and that's what is hitting the ground, or net hp. 100 crank HP is only 70 HP at the ground, which isn't much.

Yes it's at the flywheel.. So the flywheel hp to weight ratio should be around 8.33 pounds to 1hp if it makes 120hp and my math is right ... About 20 more then it needs

Ok here it is I was a little off and I did do some tuning to get these numbers adjusted the valves tweaked carb no air filter. Engine was up to temp at final pull with belt on and timing set at 32*

Pretty good numbers. Better than I thought actually. At least you're making power in the mid-range and don't have to ring it out to make some decent torque or hp. I wonder what the difference would be after you freshen it up.

It idles well over 1000rpm with that cam but I did get it pulled down to 1,500 where it made 80tq and 22hp. It had a lot of blow by in the upper rpm so I would think new cyl. will help. The stock unported end castings are probably killing it above 4000rpm and I may make 1 more pull with 1-5/8" header.
