Need some help on gauges. Looking to install an oil temp gauge and an old pressure gauge. It will be in a 1641. No idea on how to do it or what exactly to do.

Thanks Ryan

youll just need to run a tee off the port on the engine so you can run 2 senders or ive seen some oil temp senders that replace your dipstick. but if your going to be racing the last thing youll be paying attention to is a gauge. In my opinion its much better to run bright lights to warn you of low pressure or high heat maybe even hook them up to a horn its hard to ignore a loud horn. dont forget a voltage light to tell you your belt flew off and your fans not turning.

i run a guage and a red light...ran a T off block, put sending unit on one side for light and tube for guage on oyher side of T. pretty sure light is set to come on if pressure is under 5 pounds also have green light for alt.....when they come on they defenetly get your attention! and guages are a must for sure an oil pressure guage so you know what your motors up to

i never did like the mechanical pressure gauges. i just dont trust a plastic line holding back oil pressure. im sure oil wouldnt come out at an alarming rate if it broke but nor does a vw hold alot of oil. on the same note ive seen senders bust and spew oil but atleast the light comes on when a sender busts. to each there own both ways are certainly better than nothing and a mechanical gauge is much cheaper.
