I was reading threads discussing different kinds of fuel. I was wondering if anyone has even built a AC engine to run on Methanol? I raced go karts when I was a kid that ran it and love that smell! I have a 1835 on work bench that I would like to convert...... Any thoughts or suggestions ? |

Not really feasible for a buggy engine. It takes twice as much fuel and would be really hard to get the carbs most people run to flow that amount of fuel. |

if you could run methanol it would be great the motor would run MUCH cooler. alchohal would be much better but cost alot more. but as said you need twice the volume to run the same which means much larger jets. the only downside i would see is the fumes in the woods would probably kill you. i ran alchohal in my dirt modified round track car and didnt dare start it in the garage not even with the door open. i also had to use a squirt bottle and manually force feed the carb to get it started cold. |
