I have a 1835 with a single 2brl weber, no choke, now that the temps have dropped to 40 it seems to run on like 3 cylinders for a few minutes, will backfire through the carb and hesitate, I remember reading at some time J tubes were needed, could this be the case of do you think it's just coincidental?

If u do not have the carb heated it may start to freeze up, Drive it for a bit and when it starts to act up, jump out and go check Ur carb. If its frosted that's most likely Ur prob.... Welcome to winter..

frozen water that stays at the lowest piont of your fuel line or filter or bowl. The low point is a good thing because if you have water in your carb passages they will freeze and bust the carb.Add stabil to tank in the winter.my guess.

I agree with BAJABUGNUT. The center mount carbs need preheat. They have to be set up to run richer when there is no preheat because the fuel condenses more when cold. I just went thru this with my Weber. I got it to run decent but it is coming off when my duels are ready. Check out aircooled.net. John has an article on this. He nailed my problem and helped me a lot.
