Spring loaded disks are typically designed for stock Horse Power motors. You can use them for higher HPs however you are taking the chance of them failing.

I've had the best trans logevity out of the spring and a comfortable gear changing. Those springs are constantly working while rpm's are chugging up and down in gear.Who knows. May even help c/v's.My son went 7 years on a side shift with a stock spring clutch. He just had to go 4 puck no spring and Boom! busted a 483 5 speed ring gear.I just bought a buggy with a busted 456. Looked behind the pressure plate and sure enough a 4 puck. :x These trans are an average of 40 years old ! Cut em some slack. There is no free beer or naked women at the top of the hill so chill! My favorite I'd go to the clutch resurfacing place and get the good material with the diagonal heat dissapating grooves and good heavy springs. The well hated Passat has never broke a trans an it has one. The weld came apart on my welded diff once but that was my fault.

I use a cushlock with a stock pressure plate. I always want my clutch to be the weak point. It's cheaper in the long run.
