I am building my new motor and had a couple questions...I have a counter weighted crank 69 mm.H beam rods new 94 jugs pistons ..now all i do is trail riding in the woods and climb hills in southern ohio what cam do i use and should i use 40 or 44 dual carbs i also need some new heads what do u guys think. I am not trying to build a crazy motor just something dependable and fun.....My rail goes anywhere i want now with my 1641 with dual carbs and 3 rib so a 1915 should help me from over revving when I am climbing

40's should do just fine but if you think you may bigger later on you go with 44"s and put smaller venturis in them

and for heads i would suggest some cb 044's with 40 x 35.5 valves and maybe a cleanup/mild port job

I would run 40mm carbs. Even if you decide to step up on engine size later they will still work fine. For heads it all comes down to budget. Best bang for the buck in my opinion is CB's CNC ported heads. For an engine like yours I would use the Los Panchito with dual valve springs and for a cam, Web-Cam 218, CB 2241 or the tried and true Engle 110. compression about 9.0:1 give or take a little will be good for pump gas.

I currently have the same setup you do. I used a VZ15 cam for a few reasons. First it is a super torquey cam and you can use it with 1.1:1 rocker arms. I added a straight cut cam gear to that cam as well. I also used Weber 40's due to their reliability. I have this motor setup well and it runs as well as some of the small strokers that I ride with. Hope this helps and good luck

There are about 25 cams that will work great in a 1915. You need a recipe for the total package, not just pick a cam and hope you like it.

If your goal is a good running engine that can putt around in 2nd and 3rd with a 3 rib and 40mm. dual carbs, do not over cam the engine. Use a 110 Engle with your 1.25 rocker arms and you will be happy. Do NOT use a lightened flywheel. This is a good combination. If you have 31" tires or smaller, you might want to change to a 5 rib transmission down the road with this motor combination. You will climb much better with the 4.86 gear. Changing to the 1915 from a 1641 is great but your gearing will be wrong if you stay with the 3 rib. You will see what I mean once you get it done.
