DONT USE # 2 PERMATEX it sucks. I just built a 2165 motor just got it on my buggy fired it up getting my carbs lined out and the d&mn thing leaks already. Of course the only thing i used the permatex on was around the cylinders. And it already leaks around # 3 cylinder.
What is the best stuff to use to seal up my cylinders?

ive always used the red or orange high temp permatex on the base of the jugs

gray high temp is what I use. Did use Indian Head but gets brittle and flakes off to bad.

The permatex i used must have been non hardening or something because it never did set up like all the other permatex ive used has any of you guys used hondabond i think thats what im going to use this time

i use red "high tack"

Brad which Honda bond are u referring to? I use hondabond 4

if im sealing two parts that dont use a gasket I like to use anarobic sealer (spell check). anarobic sealer dries in the abcense of oxygen. so everything that gets pinched btween the two parts dries but whatever squeezes out does not. that way theres no chance of a hard peice of rtv falling off and plugging oil galleys or something like that.

Permatex Ultra Grey is the best stuff I have found for sealing cylinders. Everywhere else i use permatex aviation sealer.

I always use the ultra blue permatex. I use very little of to the point of spreading it with my finger. I hardly ever have leaks.

Cylinder bases I always use Permatex ultra copper. Never have an issue unless it's not clean enough.

Thanks guys for the help i put my i dont know why mine never sealed up right i used number 2 permatex it was black and it never dried even after letting it set for 3 days under a fan. Maybe i was in just to big of a hurry and didnt look at the tube but anyways im going to use something different than what i used haha

Well isnt that great my buddy told me thats all he used hell he even bot it sounds like hes screwed up a bunch of motors

Sometimes the top left bolt willl leak oil threw the threads on the #3 cylinder or the oil cooler leaks down on the #3 jug.Just my 2 cents.
