For a 2176 with 78.4mm stroke and 94mm bore... should I be good with stock I beam rods? Or should I get H beam and move up to 5.5? I need to have my rods straightened and I guess depending on the outcome I may need to replace or they may turn out fine... If so I will just put them back on... I suspect they came as they are... but found someone who says he can make them spot on. thoughts? |

you should be able to use stock rods up to 82mm stroke without issue but im not sure what you talking about "straightening", if a rod is bent i would replace it or get another set, however i have had stock rods rebuilt, as in the crank end checked for roundness and resized, new bushing in the wristpin end and had them balanced and have had no issues whatsoever |

thnx guys... he is looking at them today... so far he says: (In bold) I roughly checked out the lengths, and checked for straight using a pin and the kitchen counter. #3 is definitely tweaked, others suspect #4 is about .005 short #1 is about .005 long, which is strange, but it is. I will use some actual tools, and get back to you in the afternoon I dont feel like they are a matched set... I know for sure #4 is also bent... I checked this myself. So I am interested in seeing what he says once its on the scale. |

To try and straighten a rod or two just to save a few bucks is not wise. Once bent and straightend its weak and can fail much easyer. That set is also going to give you different deck heights and compression ratios at the cylinders. Personally I would throw them in the scrap heap, but that's me! New rods are a lot cheaper than a one rod coming thru the case. |

Odyknuck PM's sent... I give in... and agree... I hope to have this sorted by end of the day... He said they were bent bad enough that they didn’t even reg. on his scale, and one rod was long and one was short. I figure I will get your rods and or some others... and after I need to check my rings and cylinders... they look good but want to be sure.... As a rule I will NEVER buy remanufactured rods agn... for a few bucks more I could of had new CB uni's... lesson learned. looking for rods |

Thanks PayPal will follow the pic, and thanks for helping me out... I have had a tough go so far with this hobby... can’t seem to get anywhere... trust in others is hard when buying used parts... it’s easy to make mistakes (like the rods I just sent out)... I have a long ways to go... Nice buggy BTW... any pics? |
