| Post subject: | New motor no oil pressure |
I have a 1600 motor with 15 minutes on it. What I have inside is a stock 65' case bored 20 over and a crank that is 20 under stock rod bearings and a eagle cam. I started the motor a week ago got 10minutes in to break in and the rocker shaft mount block broke after putting new rockers in the motor I started it up it ran great for a minute and then oil light started to blink and then came on. I put a gauge on it and no oil pressure. The oil pump is used, the stock fuel pump is blocked off, and it has a doghouse oil cooler. My worry is the wrong main bearings were put on by mistake and I have an extra 10 for my main bearings to dump oil out of. any ideas? Thanks Dave |

If you had .010" extra in the crank bearings you would have heard the noise. How used is the oil pump. Did you mic it up to be sure its in tolerence. Are you sure the PRV in the case is closing, weak spring etc. I assume this is a single relief case. Did you have pressure before the rocker shaft broke? Possible the oil pump ate a chunck of metal? |

I have seen the ear on the oil pump shear off or round off if it dont sink deep enough into the camshaft. |

I called Don's sport buggies in southen Michigan and he told me to check the oil pump to see if the drive gear slips on the shaft. I would have never check that and it was the the pump shaft spining inside of the gear. |

when you take back apart make sure you check the crank good for a crack i built a 2387 and had the crank turned when you start it would hold 50 punds of pressure 10 minutes later be down to 10 to 5 pounds i done everything to it that everyone told me to do and it do the same thing after 3 times taking apart and putting back together i said the hell with it and so you know what happen the crank finally broke |
