HI i drive the rail a lot during summer it is street legal. the buggy does not run rich now! it had 60 idles and i went to 50 idles. weber suggest"s 55 idles for a 44 weber with 36mm venturi! but the buggy shop was out of 55's, the motor no longer loads up while idling, it runs smooth and the acceleration is crisp and potent sounding, my plugs are tan color know!! they was black and sooty when i was running the 60 idles in there so i think it will be all right, took me a long time to get this thing to work right!! i turned the adjusting screws till i wore my fingerprints off  the adjustments are real sensitive know with the 50 idles the motor responds well to them the 60 idles you could turn the mixture screws all day and the motor would not respond at all thanks

The spark plugs don't lie. I'm glad it worked out without touching the new exhaust.

just for good measure i think i will start using the marvel mystery oil in my gas, i heard a lot of good things about it for upper cylinder lubricant, also somewhere i seen! i think on the samba? they sell a upper cylinder oiler injection kit for vw, and the choice additive is marvel mystery oil! i am building my bug engine right now, i have a exhaust with a stinger for it! it does have the preheater tubes in the exhaust i will be using them when i install my 40 weber on my bug it will be a year around daily driver thanks

Marvel Mystery Oil is great tuff. After my dad put an upper cylinder lubricator in his 1956 Ford's 292 engine the valves stayed in adjustment for a long long time. I've used it to fix sticking hydraulic lifters and rusty valves in engines that sat around a long time. MMO used to claim thier Nascar car used to use straight Mystery Oil.
