Are 88 slip ins junk? I'm told that the cyls are too thin and could have overheating problems. Truth to that? Is an fk7 cam too big for a small eng with kadrons? .500 lift is alot.

Don't fool with the 88s, it doesn't cost that much more to have your case and heads cut for 94s.
I run the fk7 [favorite cam] with 1.4 ratio rockers on one of 1914 bugs, I feel that cam setup really helped the bottom end grunt. Don't forget your valve geometry if you use ratio rockers.

10-4 on that, I agree with Maddog, go for the 94mm cylinders, just a few bucks more and the FK-7 cam is awesome for the bottom end torque and that is what I am running on my 2276 now with 1.4:1 rockers, the .500 is not too much lift for any applications as long as you got the proper springs in the heads to accept that much lift without binding the springs. If you are running stock heads with stock springs, you will probably need to get a good set of springs from CB Performance or any high-performance stores that sells them IMO.
