 Post subject: Alternator

Hello everyone,
Im a new user got signed up today and this is my first year with the mean machine rail, been out a few times this year had to be towed back to camp still working out all the little thing that can and will go wrong. Anyway im donw to my last problem i need some help with, I replaced my Gen. with an Alternator the trouble im having is with wiring up the light i know one side goes to the alternator( but what about the other side do i need to ground it or hook it up to power too? Need to run a wire from a key on hot source to one side of your dash light.
The other side of the light needs a wire that connects to the D+ side of the alternator.

B+ on the alternator goes to the + side of the battery or big starter post.

you did mean from the key hot source when the key is on or does it need to be hot all the time, sorry if i sound like a dumb ass but you would believe what all i been thru on this buggy

There is two prongs on there a D+ on a little black box that looks like where the internal reg. is and one on the front but does not have any number or letters, you said the light hooks up to D+ so the other prong is for the battery right
