Seems like a lot of work just to roll the front edges off in a short period of time.

They "buff" them with special grinding wheels for rubber,,When we were mud racing at the jamborees Jimmy Dean was the man

I used to run my boggers like that, they will hook up better, but will wear out ALOT quicker than normal, looks good.

You don't have to "buff" them to make em that smooth. If you know what you're doin', they just turn out that way. It does make em smoother by grindin on em, but it's twice the work and it does no good. It helps alot to grind the front edge of the lug, but to do it in between the lugs is a waste of time.
Just my $.02

yeah i know it does not "help" (make the tire do any better) to smooth them out it just looks better almost like it came from the factory that way

i was just just curious as to how they were doing it after cutting deeper into the tire but ive got a buddy that just cuts the "middle" (every other lug) out with a sharp wood chisel and a little heat believe it or not and after a couple of rides youd almost think they were made that way but he onlycut the lugs off flush with the "carcass"

oh well it dont matter that much anyways i was just wondering
