I cant seem to find a definitive answer to this so here goes....I picked up my wide 5 adapters from Russ (great guy who knows his s@!t) & I need to know the best way to bolt them to the disc. Its a no brainer to use press in studs on the outer (wide 5) ring but what about the 4 bolt center? Do I chamfer the adapter & use press ins & lug nuts or do I use press ins with flatwashers, grade 8 bolts & red Loctite without chamfering the holes. I could also thread in & loctite grade 8 bolts from the backside of the rotor & use flatwashers, grade 8 bolts & red Loctite to hold them together. Whats the best or will they all work?

I use press in lug studs wherever possible on the rear, and will soon convert to press in lug studs on front also. I like setting the wheel on the lug studs instead of fishing for a hole to stick a lug bolt in, I also prefer the chamfered hole for self centering,,,,,, ,but that's just me.

Just wondering, do you have 5 lug wheels and 4 lug rotors? or do you have 4 lug wheels and 5 lug rotors.

I have 4 lug rotors & wide 5 late model beadlock wheels.

I bolted my adaptors to my wheels. Then installed studs on the rotor. I sandwiched the wheel in between the adaptor and rotor. You could also put the adaptor on the back side of the wheel for a little wider stance.

Are you putting the adaptors on the inside or outside of the wheel?

Champher the 4 boly pattern for socket head cap screws keep the adapter on the rotor and take the wheel of the adapter when needed. Socket head cap screws are lighter than stus and nuts.

How deep should the chamfer be? 1/8" enough? Is that considered a spotface around the hole? I forget the terms. My plan was to keep the adapter & rotor permanently assembled. That being said, besides Loctite on the threads is there room to spin a nut on the capscrews where they come through the rotor? I cant remember if thats even possible. I need to look at a rotor when I get home.

BTW Mike, can you post a pic of your spring plate? Im curious how long the tube is on yours & how you attached it to the plate. Thanks, Keith

Thanks Mike. Actually I need a shot looking at it towards the tire. I am looking for a shot of the plate where it bolts to the rear control arm if you have one. Im curious about shape & height as well as how the tube holding the heim is welded & or braced to the plate.

The 'spring plate' is welded directly to the arm, that makes it 4" at one end. The other end of the plate was fork cut to fit a 1 1/2" hex bar, drilled and taped for a 3/4" heim. Look at the photo again, you'll see it.

Thats what was throwing me off. I had no idea that was hexbar. The pic makes it look like square tubing at an angle.
