I'm not sure I'm gonna ask this right but here goes, I was wondering if there was a "rule of thumb" for engine tranny combos and tire size.. clearly some transmission are stouter and geared lower etc.. I'm pretty happy with my 1600ish + car tranny on desert dogs 29's but I'm wondering if theres a maximum diameter for the parts to keep things together and lessen stress breakage. I plan on getting mine street ready and put streetable m/t's tires front and back, so I'm trying to feel out what others have come up with.

so I guess the short question is, with a pretty basic buggy and 1600'ish motor and car trans how big a tire will be ok to not start increasing breakage?

Friend of mine had a baja with a car trans and 31" v treads and it held up pretty good with an 1835 8)

sounds promising, I am pretty happy with the performance of the 29 desert dogs but they are getting dry rot so its time to start looking, I appreciate the feedback
