Have 31 X 15.5 Terras, wheels are junk, looking to go to late model beadlock aluminum. 12" OR 14" wide? I think most that run 15.5 V-treads are on 14's but not sure. Understand that the wider the wheel the more beating it takes, but puts more rubber in action also. Any suggestions or personal experience, horror stories welcome. I know that if you use the weld-on beadlock kits that makes a 12 about 13, which I think would be ideal, but I suspect the factory beadlock wheels 12 is 12. Leaning toward 12 with 5" backspace on 2 X 3 arms. I realize that cut v's go better, but the terras are easier on the trans, pocketbook and nerves.

I run 12 I think 14 just to wide and get tore up, but also depends on your riding area, I ride in Wellsville, so rim dingers are everywhere

12. 14 is too wide. i ran mine on 12 inch wide beadlocks with 5 inch b/s and 2x3 arms just like your talking. some run 10 wide. the wider the more likely to unseat the inside bead.

Thanks for the feedback, you saved me some grief. Years ago I made my own wheels by widening stock VW, didn't really have problems with breaking down, but didn't hit then what we do today. I think we compromised at 13, put a 9" band in a stock wheel, took the center out and put it wherever we needed it for the arms. Next question, who has the best deal on wide 5 stock car X 4 bolt VW adaptors? Would 1/4" aluminum hold up? Have some of that on hand I could use.

I have to disagree. I had 15.50's on 10" & 12" , both were too narrow In my opinion, even with 4 psi the tread was rounded up , with 15x14 the tread ran nice & flat. Never rode at wellsville but we ride se ky strip mines & I've not broke 1 down yet, maby just good luck, but the bite with the same tires on the wider wheels is definitely better imo.im running 15x14 late model beadlocks w/ 5.5" back space Image

I run 12 inch bead lock wheels on the rear one reason is if you run low air pressure that stays on the inside bead a lot better without breaking the bead

And they stay flat in the center and got plenty of flex
