Not that I'll ever get to the level that you'll are at...but something that has plagued my brain for years (well, kinda). Do any of you guys that are running V treads (or cut SS's) switch sides of the car for them on say... a hill climb, under dry conditions?
To clarify: since the V rib is designed to channel "gunk" away from the tire, if there is no gunk, wouldn't it make since (it does to me, that's why I'm asking) to reverse the tire and create a paddle wheel effect to maximize traction, and keep dirt under the tire?

Just curious.

I turned mine backwards once on a flat track for wheel speed,,,worked nicely.

we tried it on our tractors once, hard packed ground and we were loading pans. it worked for hard pack on a tractor but i have no idea how it would work for a buggy.

i have run them both ways.i think myself they pull better ran backwards but they wear alot faster.i run quite abit of blacktop and it would roll the ends off the lugs fairly quick so i dont run them backwards anymore but for playing on grassy pipelines or reclaims you could do better running them backwards.also when you would get in deep thick mud it seemed to keep your tire up on top instead of digging straight down.this is the v tread i'm talking about.some people may disagree but if i never ran the hardtop i'd always have mine backwards.jmo.chad

I would think running a "V" tread backwards would tend to not clean out as well and fill up and retain Mud. If your not running in mud then they will definatly give you more traction. I have a few sets of Pilot tires (semi paddle) that are actually designed to run in Dirt and Sand and are marked as such to reverse them.

Back in the day when we ran v-treads if you didn't have paddle tires when we rode the sand pits we would reverse them it worked very well
