I found that Elmers does wonders for holding the heads & cylinders in the block as well. Those pesky studs never seem to stay torqued anyway. Toss em out & glue the parts instead. I got an extra 75 HP on the dyno using glue.

Many, many years ago we used beer cans to shim the main bearings in a worn out vw case, that engine ran nearly 2 seasons.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
You'd be surprised what will work.

You aint kidding. On a serious note I agree with Maddog.....I have rigged some stuff over the years that is beyond belief & was dangerous at best. There are a few things I just wont do though.

I dont even know the guy but when the timing is right I say let the comedy flow. Im sure Ill get picked apart for something sooner or later. Ill probably join in & crack a few over my own stupidity.

Nope, not arguing. Nothin to argue about here. DONT do it. plain and simple.

Bad advice causes SOO many people to give up on buggies, and VWs in general. Thats how VWs got a reputation on the street as unreliable and hard to work on because so many people worked on them that didnt really know what they were doing back in the day. Apparently the same applies to VW equipped buggies today.

But it's ok to tell em to drill holes in there Valves

OK, so Im looking for a publisher for an Idiots guide to building Volkswagen engines. Of particular interest to readers will be my chapter on building a 300 HP stroker using things you have lying around the kitchen. These methods are tried & true & will even net you a profit. Instead of this thing costing me money I ended up with $163.84 more than I had when I started the build.

Im sorry, I just cant stop.....Its like Cocaine.....Im addicted

I'm not liking where this is going. How's about us getting back on what ever topic this was, that's right, things NOT to do to your buggy. OR I could just move it over to Trash Talk and let the beatings begin.
Passat2800, the next time you post trash in my forum I will delete you every time you post.

I spent 24 years with the bitch queen from hell & Im still upbeat & loving life. Ive nearly died twice. 10 months ago my body was full of stainless steel with holes as big as 1/2" that I tore into my flesh to cotrol a rage that only went away when I finally left my EX. You dont have to worry about me. A few words on a computer screen only make me laugh.

Oh, buy the way, did you know that sway-a-way does grind their torsion bars after heat treating to a smooth finish.

I was so out of control in February that I was planning a trip to NY to try body suspension in order to get my self to a point where I could feel anything other than anger. There was something about the idea of having hooks threaded through my back & swinging 4 feet off the ground that appealed to my inner torment. Problem is the pain becomes addictive & I wasnt sure where Id go after from there. Amazingly enough all it took was getting the hell away from a woman I have hated for nearly 20 years. I still have the nipple rings as a reminder that physical pain is not a solution to anger issues. Who needs therapy??? 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Thanks for having my back Boyd......I cant fault him for trying but to be a real acronym you cant keep using the U as a Y word. That why its an epic fail & loses its punch....OUCH!!!!

Come on Passat....try again with words like utterly useless, unfortunitely unfunny, unbelievably uptight ( Im sure you are familiar with these).

Oh god.....Here I go again.....

The ones they showed last night is open to the public & they have strict rules they follow. They are in California. I was going the underground route where they allow you to hang even if you pass out unless your in danger. I wanted to find my limits. I even got my weight down to 153 Lbs. in preparation for it. I was shooting for 140 max. Im back up over 180 now which is too heavy & causes a lot of scar tissue to form when the skin separates from the muscle. That fat guy on that show from last night is going to have permanant lumps under the skin from hanging.

I drove 4 therapists crazy & they did nothing for me. Now that I dont go home to that F**king C**t anymore Im a new man.

Yes they do that on a precision grinding setup to make them equally cylindrical to eliminate the stress crack areas and so the torsional twist is linear.
