jus got done with new brakes

looks sweet - I'm running drums on the front of mine , but would like to upgrade. What kind of rotors and calipers did you use if you dont mind me asking?

i think they are karma ghia spindles and rotors that i drilled,they are squareback calipers

is them the spindles you got off of me chris?

i got set thinkin bout fixin mine up like that over the winter, how did you run the lines was it to one of your cutter brakes or straight to the master cylinder?

thats them finally got around to putting all together,i bought a master slave cylinder that came off a 85 honda car it was 15.00 bucks off e-bay,its got a 5/8 bore,put it on a separate handle in between seats

I am thinking about drilling my rotors too,,,but I read mixed feelings. What are the reason's and what is correct method?

i bought the one's on the back of my buggy predrilled - it was explained to me that it allowed them to cool faster so they didnt warp

about how much more do they weigh drilled like that and whats them rotors cost a piece?

There are two reasons to drill rotors.

1 is weight
2 is when you apply the brakes heat makes a gas that will build up between the pad and rotor making them less effective...the holes lets the gas escape

If the holes in the rotor make that big a difference, I better put down this double bacon cheese burger because I am sure my big butt will have more effect that the holes in the rotors..

mine where around 3 lbs a peice different,i drilled 3/8 holes,about 60 holes in each

you can get more by cutting 4, 2" holes in the Hat of the rotor.

A gram here a gram there makes ounces, an ounce here an ounce there makes pounds. If you do not need the extra weight then by all means get rid of it.

i was gonna do that but i didnt know how hard it would be,im tryin not to get my front end to heavy,dont wanna mess with the balance of it

I think a slotted rotor would help the gas dissipate better than drilled because majority of all the holes is still going to be getting sandwiched between the pads not letting the gas to get away, but still be in there, where as a slotted rotor is more likely to have a better portion of the slots outside where the pads are sandwiching it... i think.

And drilling a hole is cheep.

It is very easy to do. Hole saw from Lowe's 15.95 put it in the drill press and it cut's very fast. The metal in the rotors are made of is junk and soft so it drills easy.

no not yet,it may be pretty sunday might go then,we been on tv everyday with freddies murder trial,i got a subpeona and everyone on the hill got one,its been on tru tv and cnn.com,ive been everyday since monday,gotta get on stand tomorrow
