Ok well i have broken the shock mount 3 times on the passenger side i am guessing that they are not long enough shocks but i just want to make sure that you all think the same thing. i have never broke one on the driver's side guess i should quit letting fat chicks ride with me lol just kidding. jokes aside what should i do where would be a good place to mount longer shocks i can get more pix if that would help.

Might be over extending the shock,,do you have limiting straps for extension and some sort of bump stop for full compression? the shock should never see full extension or compression.

That rear cage looks scary cut like that.

About the shock mounts breaking. Do you have a better picture of the mount? Hard to see if it’s just a shock boss welded or dose it have any up down gussets to help support it. Do you have any bump stops or are the original stops broken letting the arms over extend the shocks ripping off the mount? It could also bee shocks are too long and when the suspension compresses the shock pushes the mount off.

Based on the picture I would say your design sucks. You have too much leverage against your mount point and are probably ripping the shock mount out of the tube it is connected to. Even a gas shock will do that. The simple fix is to make it double shear. Add another tub to the outside with a tab to support the outer side of the shock.

Did I belittle you enough? I think I can do better.

Like said I would say its a combonation of not the right shock travel and a weak mount. I am guessing it has more to do with shock travel. If you have stops up/down it would probably solve your problem, but why limit your travel. With a stock torsion housing it should have stops still built in. Though it sounds like your shock is what stoping your travel. I would relocate the shock mount or get the right size shock, which ever it is.

The reason to limit travel it to save your CV's from binding. Find the binding point then back up till they are free but make your limiting straps about a half inch shorter than this to allow for full tightness of the straps,,don't trust the metal factory stops they get beat in till they are not correct plus the strap absorbs some shock to the system. Determine your shock locations and get shocks that don't use all their travel extending and dont bottom out compressing. David Hill sells a quality limiting strap as does many of our advertisers.

Are you breaking the mount off the frame or is it breaking the bolt? If it's breaking the bolt it's because of the threaded mount. Where the thread meets the shank of the bolt is the weak point of the bolt. If it's breaking the mount off the frame it's the shock length or improper limits of the trailing arm.
Then again it could be the fat chicks
