The West VA group all run them. They used aluminum or sheet metal and fabbed there owm. They said they make a big difference in the mud. You could buy prefabbed trailer fenders and modify them to work. They are fairy inexpensive.

I figure muddy fenders have to be lighter then a mud filled buggy.

I saw a set made from a plastic 55 gallon drum. Not the most elegant looking but they definitely kept the mud off. They cut the drum and made two rings out of it, then cut them in half, actually they only took about a third out of the ring and opened it up some. Bolted to two pieces of conduit that ran across the buggy and fastened on with muffler clamps. Easy on, easy off, ugly as homemade sin, and pretty darn good at keeping ya clean.
