With the cable and air filter kit costing about $65 I decided to build my own cable, specially consider after they wanted to ship the kit to Alabama for a whooping $23 (ground shipping).

You will need the following:
-Super Beetle cable assembly (comes with the rubber housing) $7?
-1/4" copper tubing (about 6') $10
-two 1/4" flares and two washers $3
-HF stainless steel cable dookie hickie ($9)

First you need to insert the cable assembly in the copper tubing and have the rubber housing sticking just about 1/4" out of the tubing. Then bend it how you want it and insert the other end in the longer tubing housing that runs toward the front. I used the accelerator end on the carburetor. The other end I cut off and used HF connector on the pedal. Works great. Next I need to wrap some black tabe around the tubing all the way to the larger tubing housing otherwise I will have water running in it each time it rains.

It’s not a huge saving and my method will never compare to the high quality cable that a vendor offers but if you don't want to pay for shipping or wait for the item to come in the mail, this is a good alternative. Also I used the washers on each end as the flares were are not thick enough and they would go through the filter housing. Don't taze be bro!

Instead of black tape you can take the boots that come off bicycles brake cables and use them. Next time ya see a junk bike laying around take them off it. Chad
