Well here is an update on the hi torque starter that I purchased at a swap meet. After trying to install it and finding out it doesn't fit. So it was mentioned to me to modify it by drilling it to make it fit.

Here it is on the left compared to the stock starter on the right.
So after measuring it out I found that an 1/8" off on each side I decided to go ahead and drill it out.

Here it. Is after drilling out the holes so it would fit and finding that the guides are to large as well to fit inside the bell housing. So those had to be removed as well. Taking a hack saw and going slow I was able to remove those. Then using the Drexel tool to dress it up and make it all smooth.
Tried to install it and found that the nut would not screw on to the stud coming out of the bell housing. Quick fix.

The starter fit and I got it all wired up with no issues. UNTIL, I hit the starter button!!!!!!
The starter spin up and sounded great! Only problem was it doesn't hook up to the fly wheel.

So I am back to square one with a $50 boat anchor!

Yeah, the starter has a short shaft complex!!!

Hmmm, I wander if I can modify the depth by removing material to increase the depth the shaft fits inside the bell housing.

Find someone that has a burned up starter and take the block off the end of it and bolt it to yours

That's why I asked you to post side view pics . I thought it looked shorter in other pics.
