OK. No one's ever shown me, I just took a grinder to the tube and went back and forth for several centuries before it fit right(hopeful). Now time is valuable and I want to do this right. How do yall measure to get angles right and notches at the right lengths the first time you cut. For example, I need to make an 'X' between the two rear down tubes and the engine hoop to strengthen those long 'roof' tubes. I'm interested in the tools you use to do this as well. |

I am a cheap bastard.. I actually use the empty paper towel roll. It is easy to cut the paper towel roll with a pair or scissors to make it fit. Then I just copy other template as best that I can. It is not perfect but it usually gets the job done. |

Use paper instead of rolls that way you can un roll it and roll it the other way and you have your notch for the other side of the buggy |

good idea... if you use paper, you could wrap the tube with the paper and trace your pattern onto the tube. |

those paper wraps reminded me of these but I haven't tried them myself http://www.dogfeatherdesign.com/ttn/runTubeNotcher.html http://metalgeek.com/static/cope.pcgi also these are neat but are for pipe instead of tubing so the sizing would be off http://wrapitcut.com/home/Purchase/tabi ... fault.aspx and a lot of good info in this pirate4x4 thread http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/shop-too ... tures.html and one more link with some info http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77788 |
